Ratio Scribendi (reason for writing)

Alright, so now that I have had this blog for 3 months and haven't written anything in it, I have decided to fix that and start writing regularly (try to at least). I have decided that it is time to start putting my thoughts down in readable format. Now, know that I do not think that my thoughts or opinions are superior to others' or are better than what other people say, but rather I realize the importance in every individual person' opinions or ideas. I feel that in dialogue (which ultimately, I hope this blog creates), an environment is created in which people can learn from each other as well as reinforce their own ideas. It is an environment in which I have benefited from many times, so I realize the importance of it. And, I hope you are able to as well.

A blog not for blogging's sake

"I sincerely believe blogging can save America." -- John Jay Hooker, American businessman.

Even though I may not be capable of saving America through publishing my thoughts, opinions, and observations on a regular basis, I hope to have a positive impact on whomever reads this blog. My hope is that what I write will positively impact others and maybe move them to reconsider their world and their interactions with the world around them. Hence, I have drawn the title "The Progressive Poet" in hopes of advocating change. As to what change, I am not entirely sure. But I can promise that I will not blog just for blogging's sake because that is a paradoxial element that serves no purpose to the greater good (plus it just wastes the reader's time).

I guess we'll just wait and see where my pen (keyboard strokes) takes me.
